Background:
Kosuke Ueki is a 3rd year student in Hinokuni Junior High School. He’s actually a heavenly being who was sent to earth to take part in a tournament. He pushed through the tournament with the goal of freeing at least 3 god candidates who were sent to hell for breaking the rules.

In his spare time he likes to plant trees, to clean the park and streets, and to take naps. He’s capable of sleeping wherever and whenever. His favorite dish is mackerel boiled in miso and he dislikes crowds.

He was given the ability to turn trash into trees by his homeroom teacher and first god candidate, Kobayashi. Due to the fact that he’s a heavenly being, he has access to the 10 Sacred Treasures, as well as an endurance level and recovery rate much greater than that of a human’s. However, the rules state that he cannot use his granted ability and sacred treasures against a normal human (non-tournament combatants) or there will be consequences.

Since entering Hankagai, a world separate from “Heaven”, “Hell” and the “Human” world, he has gained two tattoos, one on each palm. On his right palm is an “Item Seal”, and on his left hand is the “Effect Seal”, the Chinese character for Grabbing. He can summon a mop from his right palm and apply the power “Grab” onto the mop.

Personality:
Ueki is an unusually calm individual who doesn’t care what happens to him. He has a very strong sense of justice, which causes him to help those in need, and punishing those who defy the justice he believes in. He has little, if any, concern for his own well being, and his friends are his top priority. Even strangers who come to him for help are put first before himself.

Although he may seem stupid, he actually has a strong battle sense. His fighting style focuses around finding and exploiting his opponents’ weaknesses and creating unique strategies against them.
